I took my three boys to the Yankee candle company in MA. I noticed a family there that was just there to enjoy the lights and the smells. They saw my boys picking through the ornaments and asked what they were doing. My boys explained how they were picking out this years ornaments. The other two kids explained they have never picked out ornaments before because they are poor and have no money. I asked them if they would like to pick out ornaments for hemselves this year? Of course they agreed and I bought them ornaments as well. I also let them dip candles and make their hands. They (including their dad) were so very grateful. Seeing the smile on these two small kids made that whiole shopping trip with my boys even more special.
It is not my act but people acting towards me…I could never thank them enough but in all the sudden I didn’t even ask their name but I will always be thankful! My dog got hit by a car today I was looking for her because she escaped a neighbour told me she is on the road struck by a car. Two nice ladies stayed by her side (Ivy was her name) they covered her with a blanket and when I arrived there they stayed with me until help came for my dog they didn’t want to leave me alone there they helped removing her from the road and called the help for me. I wish I could have think about asking their name but I am thankful for the 2 ladies that stayed by my side in that so difficult moment! They wouldn’t leave me alone even if known us knew what needed to be done in that moment but they knew I needed someone with me
I had just walked into a store, in a hurry to get what I needed and get out again. I was busy. I collected a basket and as I walked further I noticed a woman who was struggling with a pile of items. I held out the basket to her and said, “You need this basket.” I gave it to her. She said she would get me a basket, but I just said that was okay and got another one. I was busy, but I was not that busy that I didn’t notice someone who needed help. It is a small thing, but I truly believe that we need to look after each other and I can’t know how my actions might affect another person, the ripple of a small action turning into something larger. Maybe the biggest change is in my own heart.
Every week, I invest my time with high school students in the youth group at my church. I want them to know they matter- to me and to God. I try to encourage them so it can help them grow stronger as a person and in their relationship with God.
Another student in my nursing program also struggling with a sick parent wishing him luck and to pass his final with the grade he needs.
