  1. Every Thanksgiving, my Dad and I make about 40 bagged lunches and feed the homeless in Philadelphia. We are not part of an organization, one year I decided it would be nice to provide a meal on the biggest Holiday surrounded by food to those who don’t have a big dinner. I wanted to give these people hope and remind them they still have things to be thankful for. I think so often people disregard those in need as if they aren’t human. It hurts my heart when I see someone struggling so greatly. The gratitude I received from them was immense- for providing something every human being should have access to- a meal made with love.

  2. My friend was put on bed rest and then unexpectedly while her husband was out of town she was admitted into the hospital – I am bringing her lunch and flowers today!

  3. For the past 3 years I have organized a group of coworkers to participate in Red Shoe Day which is a fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House charities. We go out in Encinitas, Ca and raise money. All proceeds go to the house to help provide meals and a place to stay for families that have children staying at choc children’s hospital in San Diego. This past year we raised over $2000!!!

  4. My Dad died just a couple of weeks ago. The weekend of Thanksgiving, I asked my Mom if we could donate his t-shirts, underwear and socks to the soup kitchen that we always minister at on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Of course this was a difficult thing to ask, but she said yes. My husband took all of them that Sunday, and they were all given to needy men and boys in the Woodlawn community of Birmingham, Alabama. They served over 150 people lunch that day. I think my Dad would have liked the idea that his things were serving those in need.

  5. I went to a McDonald’s one morning and I saw an old man sitting by himself eating breakfast he didn’t look that kempt. I wanted to have the time to sit down and eat with him but I didn’t so I bought him a $30 gift card to the McDonald’s so that he can enjoy breakfast on me for several days!!!!
