I privately sponsored 2 girls from an internal conflict zone in northern Kenya to move to the nearest town and attend school. They were unable to attend school in their village because of fighting and the quality of the education in the local school was very low. The older girl is 11 and was failing grade 3. After 2 months in her new school she was top of the class and looks forward to starting grade 4 next year. The younger girl is 8 years old and was failing grade 1. She improved enough to pass the year and looks forward to grade 2 next year.
I found an Australian woman’s wallet on the floor of a taxi in Japan with all her cards and hundreds of dollars in cash. I was able to track her down by using Facebook Messenger and attempting to find and contact all the family members listed on her Medicare card. Within 30 minutes we had connected with her daughter and by the next morning the wallet was back with the rightful owner 🙂 The power of social media!
