Bought someone a movie ticket, who needed a break.
Tidied up a home of a busy mother who is raising a daughter by herself
I helped an elderly person cross the busy street. She patted me on the head and said ‘Bless you, son!’. I smiled and left.

A few weeks ago I found myself balling my eyes out on the train on my way home after an emotional experience. I was on a relatively quiet train and wasn’t hiding my tears, and after about 10 minutes a lady who was standing in the middle of the train came and sat next to me, put her arm around my shoulders and gave me a tissue. She sat with me until the train ride was over, helped me off the train, and asked if I was going to be ok. Her act didn’t take away my suffering, but it reminded me that I am not alone. Re-telling that story now brings a sense of warmth and a tear to my eye and to those I tell. It really was a reminder of just how kind and caring people can be.
