  1. I have been elected as school captain of my primary school and have initiated a program where students provide “big ups” to each other, recognising the small acts of kindness and effort that might happen in our school. Each week on assembly these big up’s are celebrated.

  2. I started a business as a Equine Assisted Learning practitioner 2 years ago. I own a beautiful herd of 7 donkeys and 7 horses. One of my clients has deep childhood trauma and social anxiety, consequently is socially isolated. Her one highlight of the week was spent hugging my donkeys, in particular a donkey called Murphy. Due to the recent changes to NDIS, and their refusal to support any equine/animal therapies, her sessions were abruptly cancelled. This sent her into a downward spiral. On her last session, I mentioned that I would love her to still attend as a “volunteer” to keep hugging the donkeys! So now she still has her time with the donkeys which is so important to her wellbeing, but it also helps me too as I get help cleaning yards! I didn’t really consider it an act of kindness…it was very natural to me to offer this, but my client felt it was kind….it is an example of an act of kindness going both ways! I would also like to comment that while my children were growing up, at dinner time we would often talk about a random act of kindness they might have done for someone during that day, which I am pleased to say seems to have stayed with them too. I have only just learnt of this organisation, Kindness Factory from ABC News Breakfast! Love it! Thank you! (The picture is posted with permission).
