I recently saw a mother of one of my daughter’s classmates, post on Facebook that she had just had a double mastectomy done after finding out she carried the gene that is closely associated with breast cancer. After surgery, she found out, she in fact did have breast cancer, but because of her taking a leap of faith, she had to do no other treatment. So I made her a big ole lasagna and drove it up to her house. That single lasagna touched that woman so much, she has since, hugged me, thanked me many times and even mailed me a thank you note.
It was the simplest of gestures and makes me only want to do more. Do small things. People love it. Your heart will love it.
I paid for the balance of a woman’s grocery bill when she realized she didn’t have her wallet and not enough cash to pay for all of her groceries. She was going to take some items out of her cart but I told her I would cover it, whatever the cost. Turns out she was buying lunch for a bunch of preschool kids. Best $25 I ever spent!
I invited a family with no where to live into my home until they can get on their feet.
I volunteered for a nonprofit that provides clothes and home goods to the poor! We sorted donations and organized the “store” for those in need to come “shop” (everything was free!).
I bought a hot drink for a homeless person to keep them warmer.
