My partner works with a lady who is struggling as a single mother lately, as her ex husband has turned his back on her and their 3 kids. There are times she struggles to make ends meet and more often than not goes without so her kids don’t.
She has tried my cooking before and expressed how much she loved it. So each week when I prepare our weekly work meals I always make extra to be taken to her.
In order to not make it seem or feel like a pity charity hand out, my partner Ray always says to her, Neil loves cooking and knows how much you love his food so always makes sure to send him in 1 or 2 times a week with some. She has no idea that I know anything about her situation
I was buying items at Bunnings in Osborne Park, as the lady was processing my purchase the bar code would not read on the scanner. As the lady was attempting to read the bar code number we had a laugh talking about how our sight was deteriorating as we aged. She said that she needed to get some glasses however raising three children by herself there was no money left for her to buy glasses even from the chemist shop. I completed my purchase, went to a Chemist shop on Main St bought a pair of reading glasses and dropped them back to the lady who was still at check out. She was shocked, thankful, lost for words and burst into tears…….. I wished her a happy life and left. Truthfully I was more overwhelmed that a simply act of respect and care could affect another person.
Bought a gift card for a turkey, for a family in need. Donated a long woman’s winter coat to a shelter
Helped my neighbour build a skating rink for his children in his backyard
I work upstairs from a Dr’s office. On my way inside one day I noticed an elderly woman being pushed in a wheelchair by her husband and she was dressed to impress, makeup and all. After holding the door open for the inspiring couple I looked at her and I said you look smashing today and I love your makeup she says “thank you honey” and then look at her husband and I said “you have an awfully hot wife”, he says with a HUGE smile on his face, “I know”.
