A guy with severe disabilities used to walk by the house daily and loved saying hi to my Labradors. At the time we had a litter of puppies so I ran inside snd scooped up an armful and brought them out front so he could pat them.
Whilst assisting my client in an aged care facility yesterday I noticed another elderly lady struggling with her hearing aid
I asked if I could help her and she smiled and said please
So I put the hearing aid back in her ear properly
The volunteers that were on patrol for the Bancoora Surf Life Saving Club in Victoria assisted with helping out a man to get into his wheelchair & onto the beach for the first time in 10 years. Fantastic job to all
Yesterday, while at the gym, I noticed a woman at a table that had a sign saying “teen lock-in”. As a mom of a 13 year old boy, I asked her to tell me more. She mentioned that she had been up since 530 that morning and had worked a full day at her other job. My immediate response was to ask her if she wanted me to get her coffee. She thought I meant getting her a crappy cup from another part of the gym but I left the gym and got her Starbucks (she would need the good stuff to stay up all night with a group of teens)!
After coming out of Woolworths I noticed a lady that was scantily dressed and disheveled. She approached a lady sitting on a bench eating chips and asked her how she had been coping with the recent bad weather. The lady on the bench appeared worried about being directly approached by this stranger, she closed her chips and stood up. She looked towards me with a worried look on face. The scantily clad lady didn’t seem to notice and then approached another younger woman who had a dog. She asked if she could pat her dog. She remarked on how beautiful the dog was and made the same comment about the weather. I went over and joined the conversation and reached into my shopping and pulled out a punnet of blueberries. I asked if she like blueberries and she said that she loved them. I gave her the blueberries, we patted the dog again and then she left holding the blueberries and walked on, up the street. I watched her leave and as she passed people she repeated the same question about the weather.
I really hope she ate and enjoyed the blueberries.
