  1. After a grass fire beside the runway at Sydney airport our flight to Melbourne was cancelled. A fellow passenger (19 year old girl) was anlone and visibly upset. I bought some water, sat on the floor of the terminal and helped her do some breathing to calm down. Then asked what the biggest problem we had to solve was. There were no available flights till the next day, she had no money left (was on her way home from a trip to America) and nowhere to stay in Sydney for the night. I got $200 out of the ATM and found a bed at the youth hostel. She was so relieved that she had money for food and train fares and a safe bed for the night.

  2. Walking that morning to get a coffee, I saw a lady having trouble with stepping up the curb after crossing the road. Lots of people just walked past, giving her evil looks for not getting out of their way. I stepped up to her and asked if she needed help. She nodded and I offered my assistance lending my arm to lean on and walked her up to her house, some distance away. After making sure she was safe, I resumed my journey back to get my morning coffee.
Now, everyone seems to know me at my regular coffee place because the lady in trouble is somehow connected to them.

  3. I prepared a resume for a new arrival to Australia and connected them to potential employment opportunities
