  1. I bought my god-daughter an instant pot for her birthday. She was unsure of how to use it, so I bought some vegetables, and went to her house and showed her how to cook the vegetables into a soup in the instant pot. She lives alone and wants to learn how to meal prep so this is a step towards that for her.

  2. A member of my singing group, who is also a friend, came to Australia with her 5 year old daughter to live with, and care for, her aged aunt who was blind and required 24/7 care. However, after about 5 years of providing in-home intensive care, her aunt was assessed by the medical team and placed in a care home. This meant that the Federal Government decided to send my friend back to her homeland. Friends, church members, the local media and a Solicitor (who offered pro bono services) convinced the Federal Government to grant a Bridging Visa and allow her to undertake a course (which it did and which she does on line and has almost completed.) We, that is our singing group, put on a fund raiser to raise money for her to rent a unit (as her aunt’s home was sold and the profits went to her son – no funds from the sale of the home were given to my friend (even after all the years of devotion and hands-on very personal care) My friend (due to the conditions of the Bridging Visa) is not permitted to earn a living! The rental on my friend’s unit is met by her sister (who is an Australian resident.) when all this took place, that is, when it was discovered that my friend had no way of supporting herself financially, I decided to give her enough funds to pay for essentials (food and electricity etc) on an on-going weekly manner. I am almost eighty years of age and on an aged pension, however, I don’t pay rent, so this weekly outlay does not impact on me financially. I hope there are more people in the community who can reach out and help those less fortunate than themselves, after all, as the saying goes, “There But For The Grace Of God Go I”

  3. Wishing somebody luck during a tennis game and encouraged them when the shot was not as good

  4. I called to thank the pharmacy assistant in my rheumatologist’s office for helping me get my Humira prescription from my new pharmacy insurer and let her know the first shipment was received today. Sure, it’s her job, but she was so persistent on my behalf, and working with insurance companies isn’t easy. I appreciate her so much!
